I'm a fan of steampunk guitars and have already made one out of my Dean ML. However, in this case I think have created the world's first Steampunk Gibson Les Paul which I'm quite excited about!

Filing this away under 'So Cool It Makes Me Sick' lol. Awesome! ><

For every mad scientist who's had a convenient thunderstorm just on the night his Great Work is complete and lying on the slab, there have been dozens who've sat around aimlessly under the peaceful stars while Igor clocks up the overtime.

Awesome! Thanks so much!

That's such a cool idea! I love it when people customize guitars and actually succeed in making them look awesome. Love the compass attatched to it. What color was it originally?
:iconjohnmon:
Thanks very much! It was originally a wine red and looked like this:

I just painted it, added some furniture tacks and that's actually a pressure guage attached, but I like the idea of a compass. I may put a compass on another guitar someday!

that's pretty cool, but isn't there a difference in the sound, when you make some changes on it?
:iconjohnmon:
Thanks! It didn't affect the sound at all it still sounds just fine! I avoided adding anything in places that would interfere and mainly just gave it a new paint job. The edge is lined with furniture tacks that I hammered into the body of the guitar, but it's around the edge and if it does affect it at all it's probably barely noticable. So I'm very happy with it over all and I still play it!
:iconanneya:
That's cool! I bet everyone is jealous when they see your guitar! I'd like to make mine look like a steampunk guitar, the bad thing is that I don't know how to get the material and how to start. ^^;
Do you know the band Abney park? Their instruments look so great!
:iconjohnmon:
Yeah, I know about Abney Park! Their instruments were partly my inspiration as well as a few other steampunk guitars I've seen online. Their style and instruments are awesome! Actually, it's also partly what made me want to start a steampunk band! We're still working on putting the band together and we really don't have much music recorded, but we're called The Cog is Dead and our site is [link]
Perhaps eventually we'll get to record a CD and play some shows! ^_^ Thanks again for the compliments on the guitar! I very much appreciate it!
:iconanneya:
I checked out your homepage! It looks very pretty and I like your logo. Then I also listened to crossfire and july doesn't know, so I think you guys are pretty good an you have got a nice voice! :D
Keep on writing songs, I hope you will be successful :aww:

PS: when I look at the photographs, you remind me a bit of meat loaf, though you look a big lot yunger ;)
:iconjohnmon:
Haha, well thank you very much! Glad you like our songs and our style! We've got much more music in the works, just haven't had time to finish recording it all.
