I'm a fan of steampunk guitars and have already made one out of my Dean ML. However, in this case I think have created the world's first Steampunk Gibson Les Paul which I'm quite excited about!

This guitar is now being used in my steampunk band "The Cog is Dead"

I guess it all depends on playing style. I'm sure it would get in the way at times, but I play more rhythm than lead so it hasn't been much of a problem for me.
